APOCALYPSE 4 IN 1 COLLECTION DVD & Digital #Review #MillCreekEntertainment

APOCALYPSE 4 IN 1 COLLECTION DVD & Digital #Review #MillCreekEntertainment

Disclosure: I received free DVD & Digital from Mill Creek Entertainment and all opinions expressed here are my own.

Mill Creek Entertainment has done it again with a great DVD & Digital 2 Disc Set that includes the following movies:

Ghostquake
Arachnoquake
Miami Magma
Weather Wars

The back of the box says: "It's a STORM of EPIC PROPORTIONS when 4 APOCALYPTIC DISASTER MOVIES come together in ONE CATACLYSMIC COLLECTION".

When I received this set in the mail my son happened to see it and was interested in it himself. He likes movies and has a wide collection that he stores in a cabinet of mine. So he had first choice in viewing it.

Ghostquake is from 2012 and sounded like something I would like since Danny Trejo is a favorite actor of mine so I decided on watching that first. It stars Danny Trejo and MC Gainey. Trejo portrays Ortiz, the school janitor and Gainey portrays a deceased head master or principal.

First of all the music was eerily scary. It started out with a group of high school students in a class with the history teacher talking about UFO's and one of the male students is drawing a picture of one of the female students instead of listening.

After class the male student (Quentin) is by his locker and takes a pouch out of it with some coins in it. The girl he was drawing comes by and tells him happy birthday (a day early). She sees the pouch he is holding and grabs them asking what they are and if they are real gold. He replies that they are real gold and real old. She asks if he is going to sell them or something and he says he has something better in mind.

Just then the history teacher comes by the lockers and wants Quentin to help him in the boiler room for a minute, which sounds weird. They go together and pass the janitor who is mopping the floor around the steps. It is a very old school and the teacher says that rumor has it that Quentin's grandfather spent a long time down here too.

He tells Quentin that the original owner of the school building burned at the stake for witchcraft. He then says the force cult is an obsession of his.

The teacher wants to see what Quentin showed Miss Douglas (the female student). When the teacher sees the coins he is amazed and proceeds to tell Quentin that his grandfather had turned half of them into rings because he thought they held a power into the spirit world. He angrily grabs Quentin with both hands telling him "you know what I mean" and the coins drop all over the floor.

After Quentin picks them up the teacher apologizes and Quentin says he has to go, not knowing that the teacher had one of the coins under his shoe. He picks it up and looks carefully at it, when it starts glowing and burns his hands. He drops it and suddenly the walls are rumbling and cracking with bugs coming out of them. Then an old man is standing there which is a school headmaster that has been dead half a century.

In another segment there are a couple of girls out in the hall by the lockers when the coach and principal come along and want them to help with the senior prom. When they walk away one of the girls (Miss Douglas) opens her locker and sees a hand reaching out. She slams the locker and the other girl asks her what the matter is. Miss Douglas says she thinks she is studying too much.

It then shows a librarian in the high school who sees a figure flash by briefly behind aisles of books. She states that the library is closed when a weird looking demon girl appears in front her making growling-like sounds. The librarian falls and seems to be sinking in the floor, then is just lying there looking lifeless with the demon girl looking at her. Scary stuff!

Later on some of the students are unpacking things for decorating the gym for the prom. Quentin leaves the gymnasium to get some chairs and runs into the janitor who asks him where he's going in a mean voice.

In another part, there are some male students who want a bullied student to break into the school to change some of their bad grades on the computers. The poor guy doesn't want to do it but is threatened by them with a knife. There are four guys altogether who climb into some sort of shaft on the side of the school building. It takes them into the cafeteria.

Suddenly the walls start to shake like an earthquake. The last student who is climbing through the shaft gets stuck after the rumbling of the school. He was last because he was smoking a cigarette and said he'd be right there. The other guys who got through first thinks he chickened out and went back so they don't know he is stuck. Suddenly the old man who had been the headmaster there half a century ago appears in the shaft with him. He tells the student that smoking on schools ground is an automatic detention and then you hear yelling and it looks like the inside of the shaft is burning.

Quentin is then shown going into the basement of the school building and finding the teacher that wanted to see his coins lying there dead. In the next segment it goes to the janitor in a room chanting words while looking in a book with symbols in it. Suddenly a young girl appears out of nowhere and he is talking to her but she doesn't speak. He knows her and he asks what they did to her and she shakes her head back and forth. He tells her it is happening now and she nods her head yes.

So far I am enjoying this rather scary and intriguing movie. I am anxious to find out how it ends and am interested in viewing the other 3 movies after that.

You can find the APOCALYPSE 4 IN 1 COLLECTION DVD & Digital at Mill Creek Entertainment for $19.98 and it includes 2 discs with a run time of 5 hours and 49 minutes.

Queens of Scream Blu-ray & DVD #Review #MillCreekEntertainment

Disclosure: I received free product for review purposes and all opinions expressed are my own.

Recently I had the pleasure to receive and review Queens of Scream Blu-ray & DVD from Mill Creek Entertainment. As you might know from my previous posts, they have so many DVDs and Blu-rays to offer for any genre and age.

If you like scary or horror films, the Queens of Scream would be the ticket for you to watch. It includes the following films:

I Know What You Did Last Summer
Vacancy
When A Stranger Calls

I decided to watch When A Stranger Call, which I had never seen before. It was made in 1979 so I was in my 20's when it was made.

One of my favorite actors is in it - Charles Durning. It also stars Carol Kane and Colleen Dewhurst. The movie starts out with a babysitter coming to a home and the parents giving her instructions about the kids.

The babysitter starts doing her homework and gets a couple of phone calls, then the phone cuts off. She gets another phone call with a male voice that says "have you checked the children"?  She is getting frighted and calls the place where the parents of the children are at. She gets the reply that they have left 40 minutes ago.

Later she decides to call the police and let them know she's getting phone calls from a man every 15 minutes and they say they can't do anything about it. Afterwards she gets another call from the man and he says "why haven't you checked the children". She calls the police again and they tell her to keep him on the line and they could trace the call. She gets another call and starts talking to him and asking who he is and if he knows her. He then hangs up again.

The police call her and tell her they have traced the call and it is coming from inside the house! In another segment it shows a bunch of police in the house and say the children have been dead for several hours and are covered with blood. The parents are home and grieving and the police say the babysitter is alright.

The story fast forwards to 7 years later when the police (Charles Durning) goes to the house where it all happened. The father (I assume)  says the murderer was declared insane and is in a state mental hospital which is not secure. The policeman goes to the state mental hospital and asks the doctor questions about how he is and his habits. The  doctors lets him listen to a tape recording of them interviewing him.

Later the scene is in a bar and there is a man who I think is the murderer going up to a woman to light her cigarette. She lights her own and he offers to buy the next round. She says she has her own money. She moves down the bar and he comes and keeps talking to her. Then another guy comes and says "the lady wants to be alone". The strange guy just sits there and the other guy hit him and they fight until the strange guy is knocked on the floor.

In another segment the police go to the home again and tells the father that the murderer has escaped and he has the job of tracking him and he needs his full cooperation. The father says "okay, yes, anything you want".

Later the woman that was in the bar walks home to find the strange guy standing by her apartment door. He says he wants to apologize but she says she should be the one to apologize and didn't mean for that to happen (get beat up). He walks in her apartment and wants to have coffee with her but she says maybe tomorrow. She get a phone call and says that her boyfriend is coming over and that he has to go now.

In the morning it shows the murderer and another guy getting kicked out of a laundromat they must have spent the night in. They go their own ways and later the policeman (Durning) is walking the streets asking people if they have seen a guy (showing them a picture of the murderer who escaped).

So far I am very interested in this movie and want to see how it ends. It is rather scary and holds my attention very well. The other 2 movies sound just as scary as well!

If you have never visited Mill Creek Entertainment before I would definitely recommend checking it out for yourself!

8 FAVORITE HORROR OR HALLOWEEN MOVIES OF MINE

I'm an old school movie buff and love horror or Halloween movies, especially since it's the time of year! Here are 7 of my favorites:

1. Psycho -  I love Alfred Hitchcock movies and this is a real winner! Make sure you stay out of the shower though, (and Bates Motel)!

2. Frankenstein -  I guess we've all heard of Frankenstein and the original Fankenstein - Boris Karloff is the best to me.

3. Dracula - There have been lots of other Draculas in movies but Bela Lugosi as Dracula is my favorite. (I want to bite your neck, lol)!

4. Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde - Spencer Tracy goes from good to evil in this as a 19th century doctor. I think I've know some people like this,

5. House of Wax - Vincent Price stars in this movie which I remember watching on television years ago. He's the owner of a museum with wax figures of famous people which ends up burning down, along with him. You'll have to watch it to see how it turns out!

6. Freaks -  I never saw this movie till a few years ago when it was on TCM. It's an oldie from 1932 and is a pre-code film  which is set in a circus with various performers in it. All I can say is you wouldn't see a film like this in these days. It is considered a "cult classic" movie.

7. The Mummy -  This is another 1932 movie which stars Boris Karloff and is a pre-code horror film. It was inspired by the opening of King Tut's tomb and the Curse of the Pharoahs.

8. The Wolf Man -  This is a movie from 1941 which stars Lon Cheney, Jr. as a man who changes into a werewolf after he gets bitten by a wolf. Bela Lugosi and Claude Raines also star in this film.

As you can tell, I love the older horror movies. If you haven't seen any of these movies before, this Halloween would be a good chance to watch one or more!

Mill Creek Entertainment Image

Have you heard of Mill Creek Entertainment before? If you like movies like my family does, I bet you will be interested in this company. Watching movies is a great way to get together for family time and have some popcorn!
Mill Creek Entertainment is the industry's leading provider of value-priced DVD and Blu-Ray features and compilations.

Growing up I remember watching old movies on television that you don't see these days. That was before cable was around or even DVDs.

I love the classic movies and stars of those days. The movie stars were so glamorous and sophisticated with a sense of awe to them. I also loved watching old horror movies and remember being a little frightened when I was a little girl but not so frightened that I still wanted to watch them! It was a good kind of scary, more entertaining.

Mill Creek Entertainment is the place to get a wonderful set of Horror Classics Movies, among many other genres of movies.
