Here We Go Again!

It's already April the 4th and last night we had snow which made the roads icy and slick. Schools in our area had the day off today, which I'm sure the kids appreciated anyways. The only thing is that they will have to make up some of the snow days so the school year will last longer.

Lots of people who plow out driveways and stores had their snow-plowing equipment stored away for the year. Well, mother nature had something else in mind. I thought the snow was done for this season but here we go again. The men who work for the town had to plow the roads and salt them again. They probably thought that it was over for the year also. My husband had to get the shovel out once again and shovel the sidewalks off.

My daffodils have buds on them but the snow covered them up....not completely but good enough. I wonder what the poor flowers think, haha. Tomorrow it's supposed to be nicer out but only in the low 40's so it won't be freezing temperatures but not that warm either.

Most people I talk to are longing for the warm spring days to come so they can go outdoors and do some yard work or just be outside. We did have a few warmer days this spring but it changes from one day to the next. I guess that's what spring is all about. We live in Michigan and that's what we expect.

Here's a view around our house. The skies are nice and blue.....now all we need is some green grass and we'll be all set!

First Signs of Spring!

Every year when I see these crocuses pop out of the ground I know that warm weather is coming and winter is over. Just a little over a week ago we had a really bad snowstorm and received about a foot of snow. Really! We were really getting sick of winter....especially shoveling snow all the time. But when it gets this time of year the days get longer and the snow doesn't last very long because it melts quicker.

The last few days the weather has been in the 40s or 50s and Monday it even got in the 60s. I couldn't believe it! I actually had to use the air conditioner when driving home from the city. What a change indeed!

It's so amazing when you think of these flower bulbs being under the frozen ground for all those months and they know exactly when to come out! Everything is brown yet but soon the trees will start to bud and the grass will turn green. The seasons are nice, although my my favorite season is spring because everything is fresh and new.

Tonight we turn the clocks ahead one hour and "spring ahead". And in 2 short weeks we will celebrate Easter. The time really does fly by,,,,,enjoy the warm weather ahead!

Spring Popping Up

Spring Popping Up

The time is here! Spring has come and I'm very happy to see some signs outside. Every year these little flowers...crocuses... peek out from under the dead leaves of last Fall.

It looks so nice now that all the snow is melted around our area. We did have a snow fall a couple of days ago, but at this time of the year it was all melted in a few hours.  I did see this tiny spot of snow in the leaves that hadn't melted as yet.

You can see that the blades of grass are just about ready to start greening up. We had a little rain today so that will probably help the process, I'm sure. The days are so much longer than in the midst of winter, when it gets dark at about 5:00pm.

I noticed that the buds are already on the trees and there are more animals and birds around. I've seen lots of robins already. Robins are the state bird and people always look for them as a sign of Spring. My mom said she saw a robin the other day and I told her I saw a lot of them already.

I really like the season of Spring, although my allergies don't like it much at all. When you think about it, the year is a quarter done already. That's how fast the time goes, day by day, month by month, into years.

Well, we don't want to rush it that fast, do we? Enjoy your Spring and take time to enjoy the beauty that our creator has made.

Signs of Spring! Finally!

Signs of Spring! Finally!

They are the earliest flower and the first signs of Spring to me is when these purple crocuses pop out of the ground! They are my favorite color....purple!

It is amazing how they can come out even when we still have cold weather here in Michigan. They are a sure promise that Winter is finally over.

I don't remember when I planted these flower bulbs but it must be many years ago when we first moved into our house. They never fail to show up, even among the dead leaves from last Fall among them.

The buds on my lilac bush are coming out also. I love lilacs of any color and the fragrance of them. My husband has been trimming all of our many trees. He's a tree man, if you ever heard of that. We've got over a dozen trees in our front yard that he planted when we moved here, about 18 years ago.

Before you know it we will have to start mowing lawn. We had some April showers yesterday and it melted a lot of the snow that was left in some areas that it was piled up. April showers bring May flowers, as they say!

Spring Thinking!

Spring Thinking!

I know we are in the middle of winter yet and it's cold and snowy outside but my thoughts have turned to Spring. Winter usually doesn't bother me very much because I'm not really an outdoor girl....but I was thinking of my flowers today and all the beautiful colors.

This Spring I hope to have more flowers and take lots of pictures. They are so easy to grow and give you lots of enjoyment just to look at them, every time you go outside! All of these flowers I planted myself from small plants. You can do it too, even if you have never done it before. All you have to do is have a small area where you want to plant some flowers.

Backyard Sightings

Back Yard Sightings........

Spring is slowing coming.  It still is cold out and we are waiting for some warmer weather to get out and do some yard work.  We've had a lot of rain also around the area.  Farmers are anxiously waiting to get in the fields and plant sugar beets.  Here are a few pics of my backyard sightings here in our state of Michigan.

First Spring Flowers

I just looked outside today and saw some beautiful color!  My purple crocuses popped out among some brown leaves and my husband said they were already out yesterday!  They are a sure sign that Spring is really here and warmer weather is coming our way.  I'm excited to finally have winter be over.  It seems like we've been hibernating forever!

Beautiful Purple Crocus

It has been a long winter and today hubby was outside doing some yard work.  He raked some dead leaves around the yard from last fall and trimmed a few trees also.  There are also some other flowers popping out of the ground which are daffodils.  They won't bloom for a little while and are white and yellow in color.  Isn't Spring wonderful!  Below are the daffodils.
