St. Patrick's Day and Mary's Birthday

Hope everybody had a nice St. Patrick's Day! Did you wear your green today?

Today was my mother-in-law's birthday and I remember she always got birthday cards that tied in with St. Patrick's Day. She passed away going on 7 years ago and it really seems like yesterday. Mary was a kind hearted woman who always liked to have fun and act silly, kind of like me I would say.

My mother-in-law loved to talk and visit and I can say she was a lot of fun to be around. My husband and our family went to her house for a lot of meals because she loved to cook. She really didn't like to go out to eat very much because she would rather have people at her house and do the cooking and entertaining.

The last few years of her life my mother-in-law had a stroke and had alzheimer's disease. She then had to go to a nursing home to get special care. She wasn't the same Mary but was always happy to see my husband come and visit every day after work. He was a dedicated son and always made it a point to stop and see her.

Today I was thinking of when we would go to her house in the country and always had a good time. But things change and life goes on. All you have is memories.

Happy Birthday Mary! I know you are celebrating in heaven!

Yep, It's My Birthday Today

Yep, It's My Birthday Today!

Today is my birthday and I had a very nice day, nothing real exciting but it was a good day!

I went to lunch with my 84 year old mother to a favorite restaurant of mine, The Cracker Barrel.  We don't really go all out on birthdays any more but I plan on celebrating with my sister this weekend also.

My husband got me a beautiful bouquet of flowers, a wonderful scented candle and a really special card that meant a lot to me.  Money is tight since we have 3 kids going to college, if you know what I mean.

Material things are really unimportant.  I'm just thankful to be healthy and that I have a wonderful husband and 3 great children who are good kids.  It was a beautiful day out and the summer sun felt good.

Birthdays seem to be coming faster the older I've gotten, which I don't really understand but will take it, considering the alternative, ha, ha.

How do you celebrate your birthday?  Do you really celebrate or have a quiet birthday?

Today is my twin sons' 22nd birthday!  Happy Birthday to Dustin and Travis!!  I can't believe it was 22 years ago that they were born!  They are going to college and are good kids.  I am very thankful for them and pray that they will have a happy and wonderful life.

My Niece Lisa the Justin Bieber Fan of All Fans!

Yesterday my niece had a 15th birthday party for the family.  Can you tell she loves Justin Bieber!  She had a Bieber Santa hat and of course had a Justin Bieber Cake!  Lisa has every CD Justin Bieber made and has so much more memorabilia from him, including perfume and anything else he has!  She even kissed the cake!  Her dream is to see Justin in concert.  I think Lisa would go wild if she would ever get the chance!  It reminds me of when I was that age.  I had a crush on Bobby Sherman and David Cassidy, which you younger ladies probably haven't heard of.  It was a nice time and Lisa was very happy!
