MIAMI VICE:
If you liked cop shows of the 80's I'm sure you will have remembered these. Miami Vice starred Don Johnson as Sonny Crockett and Phillip Michael Thomas as Ricardo Tubbs. They were both cops who were the coolest and dressed very stylish I might add. But that was the 80's! In this set you get Season 1 of Miami Vice in which they first started.
Wow, was Don Johnson the best looking man and in his prime! Loved seeing him in his blazers and slacks with a t-shirt underneath. Nobody but him could pull that off and he did it well!
The series reminded me of how different everything was in those days. The big fancy cars, hair styles and guys carrying boomboxes with their music blasting. This was before the times of cell phones and all the other fancy electronic gadgets they have in this modern age.
It was neat watching Crockett and Tubbs track down criminals, thugs and drug dealers, who of course got the bad guys. They also had great music in the episodes background, such as Phil Collins.
KNIGHT RIDER:
If you ever watched Knight Rider with David Hasselhofff you will enjoy reliving this series. I remember when it was on television but really didn't watch it regularly. I do remember that he had a talking car which is called K.I.T.T.
Hasselhoff portrays Michael Knight, who is a private detective who gets shot in the skull by some crooks and is presumed dead. He survives and has surgery, which replaces his former facial features and he looks like a different person than before. He also is given the new name than he previously had.
He goes back to being a cop and is given a car which is really amazing! It talks and is nothing like a normal car. It has it's own mind and is indestructible, maneuvers itself and can't be damaged in any way.
I enjoyed watching the beginning of this show and how it started, since I never had seen it before. The music in it reminded me of the 80's which was a good memory. A neat scene in the beginning is when Michael falls asleep driving and the car just takes over. Some cops pull him over and the car tells him to "deny everything". He pretends he is deaf and asks if they can read sign language. They let him go because they first thought he was drunk but decide he couldn't drive that smooth if he had been.
When Michael stops at a bar for a drink, some hoodlums spot his car parked outside and decide they want it. They decide to do it at a later time because of the location is too busy. When Michael stops to use a pay phone, the crooks try to pick the lock and it bends their pick. Then one of them throws a brick at the window and it bounces back and hits him on the head, because the car is indestructible.
I'm enjoying watching this DVD and seeing how much cop shows have changed from those days. The clothes, hairstyles and everything else is so different from these days.
You can purchase one of these sets for yourself on Mill Creek Entertainment for $19.98 as of this date.
