Heat Resistant Non Stick Teak Wood Utensil Set for Stirring, Mixing, Serving by #Zakicol #UtensilSet #Cooking

Zakicol Heat Resistant Non Stick Teak Wood Utensil Set for Stirring, Mixing, Serving

Recently I had an opportunity to try out a very nice set of cooking utensils which will definitely come in handy from now on in my kitchen.

This set includes 5 teak spatulas of different sizes and uses which includes the following:

 large 13.4 inch spatula
11-inch medium spatula
 9.1 inch small spatula
12.2 inch 3-line spatula
 11-inch large water spoon

I could tell right away that these utensils are very high quality and could be used for so many uses. They are sturdy and strong, made of teak wood, which won't get melted or even bent like plastic or metal utentils. Also since they are made of teak wood you don't have to worry about them every getting cracked.

Before using it is recommended to wash the utensils in soapy water by hand and coat them with vegetable oil.

I tried out the large 13.4 inch spatula when stirring my chili that I made for dinner and was really happy with the quality and the length of the item. I use a very large pot when making soups and this worked really well. I usually use a large spoon so this was a lot better and didn't get my hand hot. It also worked well for scraping the bottom of the pot so the chili wouldn't stick while cooking.

I also used the  9.1 inch small spatula for getting jello out of the bowl today and was pleased with how it worked. You could also use it for getting food items out of deep containers such as jelly, salad dressing or peanut butter.

Later I tried the same small spatula for getting some salsa out of a deep container which is shown in the picture below.

A great thing about these utensils is that you won't have to worry about scratching your pots and pans. I also like that they are so many sizes and varieties.

They even have a hole on the top of them so you can hang them up when not in use. Also included is a storage bag which is made of cloth that you could store them in.

Overall, I am quite happy my new Zakicol Heat Resistant Non Stick Teak Wood Utensil Set and think they would be an excellent gift for yourself or even a bridal shower!

You can purchase this set on Amazon for $28.99 which is a great deal!

Cave Tools Quick Read Digital Cooking Thermometer #Review #CaveTools

Cave Tools Quick Read Digital Cooking Thermometer

Just in time for the holidays I recently received a great new thermometer from Cave Tools which is their Quick Read Digital Cooking Thermometer.

Disclosure: I received free product for review purposes and all opinions are my own.

Growing up I never really knew much about cooking thermometers because my parents didn't use one. I guess they just cooked food till they thought it looked done, even though they were great cooks. My mom still is an excellent cook, although she can't get around very well any more.

Since I like to make sure foods are cooked within the correct temperature this Cooking Thermometer came at a great time. Thanksgiving will be here and then Christmas, so there will be turkeys and other delicious foods being made.

This is a neat digital thermometer which is made of 100% stainless steel and I could tell it is a high quality item.  I like the white cover for it when you store it away after using it. Also the little clip on the cover is nice to attach to your clothing (such as your shirt pocket) while you are in the kitchen.

The thermometer includes a battery so you are all set to use it when you get it. Since we were making pork chops for dinner last night it was a good time to try out the thermometer.

I liked that you can read the numbers very clearly on the display panel. It features an on/off button,  hold button, a re-calibrate button, and max temperature recall button. The temperature can also be display in Celsius or Fahrenheit. I used the thermometer when the chops were not quite done cooking just to see what the temperature was.

It was quick and I really like how it works! Now I'll want to check the temperature on my foods regularly. You even use it on liquids and deep fryers. I think it would be great for making homemade Christmas "rock" candy since it has to be at a certain temperature.

The Cave Tools Quick Read Digital Cooking Thermometer would be a great gift for the "foodie" in your life or to get one for yourself.

You can purchase them on their website or on Amazon if your prefer. They sell for a reasonable price of $14.99.

The generous folks from Cave Tools have offered my readers an Amazon coupon code for 15% off, which is shown below.

Ozeri ZK20 Touch III Multifunction 22 lbs (10 kg) Digital Kitchen Scale for Baking, Cooking and More! #Review

Ozeri ZK20 Touch III Multifunction 22 lbs (10 kg) Digital Kitchen Scale

Ozeri is a company that offers modern and unique products which include digital bathroom and kitchen scales, salt and pepper mills, thermo glassware, stainless steel earth pans, wine openers, blood pressure monitors, and so much more!

The Ozeri Touch III 22 lbs (10 kg) Digital Kitchen Scale is the latest product that I had the pleasure to try out recently. It came packaged securely and includes 2 AAA batteries which are easily inserted into the bottom part of the scale. This beautiful looking kitchen scale is about the size of my iPad and is made of tempered glass. It's a sleek thin design and is black in color.

This scale features some unique attractions such as a calendar, clock, alarm timer, and temperature/humidity function. I've used the timer and it has a nice beeping sound, which worked good to remind me when my cookie bars were done baking in the oven. It also weighs items up to 22 lbs, which is a lot of weight for a little scale. So far I've tried it out on a bowl of leftover chicken noodle and a couple of bananas to try out and was impressed at how quick it works.

The tare function comes in handy to calculate the net weight of your ingredients, minus the container. This is great for measuring foods that you want to package for freezing, such as hamburger. I also freeze peppers in the summer for using in my chili so this will be a nice help. This way you will get the same the amount in each bag with no guessing.

The temperature and humidity modes are an extra bonus. We've been keeping the heat turned down this winter to try and save money on our gas bill. According to the temperature shown on the scale, it coincides with what I have our thermostat set to. More importantly, it is neat to know the temperature and humidity when you are baking, because it can affect some types of recipes you may be making, such as bread.

Besides everything I have mentioned, this alluring and modern kitchen scale can be hung on your kitchen wall by using the notched hole which is located towards the top of the back of it. It can also be set up on your kitchen counter by pulling out a built in stand towards the bottom of the back.

If you are interested in getting one for yourself you may find the Ozeri ZK20 Touch III on Amazon.

Travis Making Potato Pancakes

I have twin sons who are 21 years old and one likes to cook occasionally.  If Travis gets hungry for something he just makes it himself.  He got hungry for potato pancakes recently and so he made potato pancakes.  Travis did everything himself.  First he peeled the potatoes and onions and cut them in chunks and put them in a blender with a little flour, an egg, and salt and pepper,  and chopped them up.

 Serious Cooking

Then he fried quite a few pans full of them.  Travis is good at cooking so I'm sure he won't have any problem when he moves out some day.  I told Travis I was going to put some pictures on my blog and he didn't care, so here they are.  The potato pancakes were good too!
