Find the one you love... is finding yourself. Henry Winkler and Sally Field play two off-center characters who find love when they least expect it in the moving comedy Heroes. Jack (Winkler) is a troubled yet high-spirited Vietnam vet who embarks on a cross-country odyssey to open a worm farm and prove his own self-worth. En route, he befriends Carol (Field), who is attempting to "sort things out" before she marries an old flame. Their laugh- and tear-filled adventures, including a high-speed run-in with a footloose army buddy (Harrison Ford), become the life-affirming story of two people who find themselves when they find each other. My Thoughts:
I had never heard of the movie Heroes, which was made in 1977 until recently. It stars three of my favorite actors including Henry Winkler, Sally Field and Harrison Ford. It is different seeing Winkler in a drama/comedy film since I have always known him for being "The Fonz" in the 70's series Happy Days.
Winkler portrays Jack Dunne, who is a Vietnam veteran. He has an unusual idea to start a worm farm when he meets Sally Field, who portrays Carol Bell. They meet at a bus station on the way going to California.
Jack has escaped from a Veteran's hospital and seems to be suffering from PTSD from being in Vietnam. Carol was supposed to be getting married but is trying to think things over about it when they meet.
They have some adventures along the way. They meet up with Harrison Ford, who plays Ken Boyd. He is a former soldier and was in Jack's Army unit in Vietman. I enjoyed the camaraderie with them and the love story between Carol and Jack.
All in all, it is a pretty good movie which was new to me and quite unusual and entertaining.
