My thoughts:
I remember the original Poseidon Adventure movie which was a very gripping and dramatic movie. It takes place when a tital wave hits an ocean liner while passengers are celebrating New Year's Eve. It was originally made in 1972 and starred some of my favorite awesome actors including Ernest Borgnine, Gene Hackman, Stella Stevens, Shelly Winters, and Roddy McDowall.
The Poseidon Adventure The Complete Mini-Series Blu-ray which I got to review is somewhat of a remake of the original movie. If was a made for television film which stars Adam Baldwin, Steve Guttenberg, Rutger Hauer, Bryan Brown and Peter Weller. The film runs for 2 hours and 55 minutes.
This movie take place on an ocean liner with passengers that are celebrating New Year's Eve. The ship is capsized as in the original movie; but in this film it is because there are terrorists aboard and they set off a bomb that blows a hole in the ship. Water pours in and the ship turns over completely. Many are injured and killed; and at the end there are only a few survivors who are rescued by the navy.
I didn't really think this movie had the same excitement and tension filled scenes as the original film from 1972 although there was some good special effects in it. Remakes are not usually as good as originals and to me this one wasn't, although that is just my opinion.

I agree, re-makes aren't usually as good as the original. I think my husband might have watched a movie like this on tv awhile back.
