Daily Clothes Washing Blahs!

I do laundry every day.  I like to keep up with it so it doesn't pile up.  With five in our household there are always towels and washcloths to wash daily.  Add the clothes with that and it's a lot to wash!  I'm not complaining though.  Just think of years ago when they didn't have washing machines.  They had to scrub by hand on a washboard.  Most people probably have never seen one.  I have a miniature washboard hanging in my laundry room for a decoration.   Can you imagine how raw your hands would be from scrubbing dirty clothes!  Then you had to go outside to hang up the clothes.  In the winter the clothes would be stiff when you took them off the clothesline.  Then they had to iron everything also because there weren't permanent press clothes back then.  I'm sure they didn't have as many clothes as people do today, but it was still a lot more work for sure!  Thank goodness for washers, permanent press clothes, and dryers!

  3. I have seen those! When I was in middle school we visited a village where they did everything by hand in an old fashioned way. We spun wool and wove it, popped corn over the fire etc. It was fun ... to visit!

  5. I hate doing laundry as well but normally do it every other day. We have a 6 month old son so we go through 3 bibs (at least a day) plus I don't know how many burp clothes...not to mention the clothes he manages to spit up on! If I would have lived back in the olden days I would have despised it!! I am a new follower from the Make My Morning Blog Hop!! Come check my blog out if you have time!!

  6. sometimes I think about that....how did they keep up with all the wash?! I have to total convince of just stuffing the clothes in a machine to do the wash and then transferring them to a dryer to dry...when I think about that II know I should be thankful and not complaining!!
I am your newest linky follower..pls follow back if you can.
