Make Some Extra Money With A Garage Sale

I am starting to get ready for our annual garage sale.  It seems like every year I have enough stuff to have another one.  Where does the stuff accumulate?  After my sale last year (I had it a few weekends) I gave the rest to the Salvation Army.  This year I am having it at my mom's house because she has stuff to sell also and has a nice large garage also.  It is a little work (well, some people say it's a lot of work) but we have fun doing it.  We've had sales for many years and you meet some nice people.  Some are looking for antiques, some look for things they can use or that they collect.  Many people just like to look for something that catches their eye.  The way you display your items for sale makes it look appealing.  I always put tablecloths on the tables or white sheets.  If you have a few small things put them in a ziploc baggie and price the bag.   Also make sure everything is clean.   If you're thinking about having a garage sale make sure you have enough change, have everything priced, have lots of newspaper and bags.  Also make sure you have good signs (I use bright pink poster board to make mine).  I put the address in black marker and black arrows to which direction to go on the signs.  You'll be surprised at how much money you can make for things you don't want!

  1. Great post! We are having our first garage sale this weekend!

  2. Around here it's impossible to make money from garage sales :) I stopped having them a couple of years ago when I never made more than 150 dollars. I wish that we lived in an area where garage sales made great money! Thanks for following my blog, I already follow yours :)

  3. Oh I plan on having mine Memorial Day weekend. I'm not sure if it's a good idea or not. Thanks for the post!
