MoonWalk NYC Breast Cancer Marathon

MoonWalk NYC Breast Cancer Marathon

On Saturday night July 20 to Sunday July 21, 2013 in New York City you can the join the MoonWalk NYC Breast Cancer Marathon.  This event is presented by Blue Cross Blue Shield and started in the UK coming to America for the first time.
Thousands of women and men also will be wearing decorated Maidenform bras and walk through the streets of NYC all night long.  This seems a bit over the top, but the mission is serious.

In the United Kingdom and Europe, The MoonWalks had over 300,000 participants and raised $126,000,000 to date.  This is such a wonderful cause and if you live in the New York City area or are going to be there on these dates I would encourage anyone to join.

The MoonWalk kicks off at Randall's Island on Saturday night July 20th, with an opening ceremony and dance party.
There are two courses to ensure that everyone can participate no matter their fitness levels or abilities.: Half Moon (13.1 miles) and Full Moon (26.3 miles)

Most of the fundraising from the MoonWalk NYC will be granted to Memorial Sloan-Ketting Cancer Center to help support the Breast Examination Center in Harlem, one of the first free screening facilities for breast cancer in the country where 80% of patients are uninsured but guaranteed support and guidance.

My grandmother died of breast cancer at the age of only 51 when my mother was pregnant with me, and maybe in this day and age she might be alive with all the advancements made in medicine.  I am really happy to hear of this great MoonWalk NYC Breast Cancer Marathon.  I'm sure everyone has known someone who has experienced or gone through breast cancer.  Even if you haven't you will be doing a great thing by participating.  Registration is $75 before May 21st.

Disclosure:  I participated in this campaign for One2One Network.  By posting, I am eligible for incentives.  All opinions stated are my own.
